Last updated:

Dennis Bauer is the managing partner of Vari-tech GmbH and a strategic partner of Memoro. With over two decades of experience in digital archiving and process optimization, he brings valuable expertise to the development and marketing of Memoro – especially in the professional archiving sector.

The Doer with Vision

“Doing is like wanting, only much more intense!” – this motto perfectly describes Dennis’ approach. Since July 2021, he has successfully led Vari-tech GmbH and established himself as an expert in digitization, consulting, and workflow development. His philosophy follows Henry Ford’s wisdom: “Anyone who always does what they already can, always remains what they already are.”

This attitude toward continuous development makes him the ideal partner for Memoro. Dennis not only recognizes the potential of new technologies but also implements them practically – from initial concept to production-ready solution.

From Craftsmanship to High-Tech

The Impressive Journey

Dennis’ career path is extraordinary: After his apprenticeship as a construction and furniture carpenter (1992-1995), he initially worked as an installer in trade fair construction, building custom exhibition stands throughout Europe. But his curiosity and drive for innovation led him into the digital world.

At GBL Gubler AG in Switzerland, he underwent a remarkable development over 17 years:

  • Project Manager (2001-2008): Building the digitization department and process optimization
  • Production Manager (2008-2011): Introduction of workflow management systems
  • Member of Executive Management (2011-2018): Building the software development department

Expertise in Digital Archiving

Technical Innovation

Dennis has significantly contributed to the development of cutting-edge archiving technologies:

  • Support in developing the Eternity E105 laser imagesetter to production readiness
  • Collaboration on the Archive Laser at the Fraunhofer Institute in Freiburg
  • Business Analyst in the “Vecteur” project of the Swiss Federal Archives
  • Development of a workflow management system for audiovisual data

Bridge Between Archives and Memoro

As an active member of the eCH Digital Archiving Expert Group and the Association of Swiss Archivists (VSA) since 2014, Dennis has a unique network in the archiving world. These connections are invaluable for Memoro:

“Memoro is also well received among archivists,” Dennis noted at archivistica 2024 in Suhl, where he successfully presented the app. His ability to make complex technical solutions understandable to archivists opens doors for Memoro to an entirely new market segment.

The Vari-tech Synergy

Digitization Meets Innovation

With his Vari-tech GmbH, Dennis offers:

  • Digitization and scanning services
  • Consulting and concept development
  • Data preparation and conversion
  • Cataloging work for archives

These services perfectly complement Memoro’s vision. While Vari-tech handles physical digitization, Memoro can revolutionize the capture and structuring of conversations and meetings with its “Recording Secretary.”

Process Thinker and People Person

Social Responsibility

Particularly noteworthy is Dennis’ commitment to inclusion: At GBL Gubler AG, he successfully integrated people with disabilities into production processes and sensitized all employees to this. This social consciousness is also evident in his leadership of Vari-tech GmbH.

Management Expertise

His diverse experience includes:

  • Process and efficiency analysis with weekly reviews
  • Workflow optimization in complex production environments
  • Team leadership and employee development
  • Project management according to HERMES 5 Foundation
  • IT consulting and technical support
