"They developed a working prototype in just two weeks and gained over 1300 users in one and a half years - proof that you can successfully deliver modern apps to end customers with low-code tools."

The Story

In Deep Dive #168 of the programmier.bar podcast, Jan and Garrelt talk to Till Schneider and Tobias Müller, the founders of Memoro, about their impressive success story with low-code development.

The Hackathon That Changed Everything

At a hackathon in Konstanz, Till started with a simple idea: He wanted to record his thoughts and conversations to keep track of his many parallel projects. After a quick test with iPhone voice memos and ChatGPT, he recognized the enormous potential - “it was like a little superpower.”

Lightning-Fast Development

  • After 2 weeks: First alpha version ready
  • After 1.5 years: Over 1300 active users
  • 400+ versions: Iterated in just one year
  • Scholarship won: One year of funding secured
  • Paying customers: Already profitable with paying subscribers

The Technology Decision

The team deliberately chose FlutterFlow as their low-code platform because it offered the perfect balance:

  • Enabled Till as a designer to directly develop the frontend
  • Allowed Tobias as a developer to integrate custom code for complex features
  • Already integrated important services like Firebase, payment systems, and app store deployments

The Hosts’ Conclusion

“An impressive example of how low-code tools can revolutionize collaboration between designers and developers. Till and Tobias have proven that you can build not just quick prototypes, but also successful, scalable products with them.”
